This week is a huge one for Charlie Morrison as he gets ready to play in the CHL versus USA Prospects Game. It is an exciting moment for Charlie, his family, and everyone around Champions who has watched him grow up in our program.
Charlie is a Miramichi kid who came all the way through the Champions pathway, from development programs to the Champions Hockey Academy U16 and U17 Prep School teams. Even back then, he was the player who stayed late, pushed himself, and wanted to learn every day.
That hard work helped him earn a spot in the QMJHL with the Quebec Remparts, where he has now put together two strong seasons. He continues to take steps forward, and his play has earned attention from NHL scouts who have taken notice.
“I have known Charlie a long time, and seeing him get to this level is pretty special. He has always been a hardworking, respectful kid who wants to get better, and he has earned every bit of what is coming his way. We are all really proud of him, and the Miramichi community is right behind him. It is fun to watch, and we are excited to see what is next.”— Dax MacLean
But the part that makes us proudest is who he is off the ice. We have spent a lot of time with Charlie over the years, and we honestly think of him as family. Every summer when he comes home to New Brunswick, he is on the ice working with younger players, giving back, and being the kind of role model any hockey community would be lucky to have. The kids absolutely light up when he joins them, and he brings the same energy and positivity to coaching that he does to his own game.
“I am excited for the Prospects Challenge and the chance chance to play against some great players and see where I stack up. I am really grateful for everyone in Miramichi and at Champions who helped me get here. I love coming back in the summer to skate with the younger kids and give back a bit. It means a lot to feel that support, and I am just going to enjoy the moment and go out and compete.”— Charlie Morrison
Seeing him take this next step is something special for all of us. We know how hard he has worked to get here, and we cannot wait to see what the future holds.
Congratulations Charlie. Everyone at Champions is cheering for you!
